Obituary

Isabella Sinclair Henderson, the oldest daughter of John and Mary Sinclair, was born in 1843 near Newton Stuart, Ireland, and died Nov. 23, 1937 near Albia, Iowa. Had she lived until Dec. 22 she would have been 95. She came to Philadelphia, Pa., at the age of 13. In 1857 she came with her family to Iowa. She was married to J. H. Henderson in 1859. To this union seven children were born. There were five sons and two daughters. Two sons, two daughters and her husband have preceded her in death. The oldest son died in infancy. One daughter, Bell, died at the age of 16 months, and the other daughter, Hettie, died in May, 1901. A son, Robert, died April 30, 1910. Her husband died June 26, 1892. She was a faithful member of the Reform Presbyterian church, a kind mother, a good and respected neighbor. She was known as grandmother Henderson to old and young. She is survived by three sons, William and Thomas Henderson of Frederic, Ia., Dr. A. G. Henderson of Leonard, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. J.G. Long of Albia, Ia.; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Henderson has rested from her labors and her works do follow her. Funeral services were held in the home, Nov. 25 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The Rev. R. Imbrie Barnes, pastor of the Albia United Presbyterian church officiated. Burial was in Smith cemetery.
