John Beebe, son of Jerry and Fernetta Beebe, was born in Monroe County, Oct. 15, 1856. He passed away Jan. 5, 1937 at the age of 80 years, two months and 21 days. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Duera Davis on Feb. 10, 1875. To this union four children were born; Mrs. Alfred Nelson of Albia; Mrs. Annice Rush of Ottumwa; Mrs. Corda McKim of Albia; and Mr. J. L. Beebe of Knoxville, Ia. His wife departed this life on Oct. 24, 1915. He was again united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Orman on Oct. 17, 1916, who survives him with his four children, 22 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two brothers, Eli of Frederic, Harve of Mitchell, Nebr., one half brother, Geo. A. Smith of Kirkland, Wash., one half sister, Mrs. W. H. Rhoads of Albia, and other relatives and a host of friends. He was a life-long resident of Monroe County. In early manhood he confessed Christ and united with the Methodist Protestant church, later uniting his name with the United Brethren church. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Albia United Brethren church, the Rev. C. L. Young, officiating and burial was made in the Smith cemetery.
