A Family Restoration
In memory of  Georgean and Robert, the Bob Kocur family is restoring the Foster cemetery. The cemetery had been abandoned, and the timber had reclaimed the land.  Bob and his family have spent many, many hours clearing the trees and brush, and resetting the stones.  Peace, honor, and respect has been restored to a few of those who passed this way before us.  Many thanks to the following individuals who have donated time, labor, and money to preserving our past.

A new fence now surrounds the one acre plat, originally deeded to the Foster Cemetery Association by none other than Monroe County Historian, Frank Hickenlooper.  The deed was filed March 26, 1896, the same year Mr. Hickenlooper published the "History of Monroe County".  The town of Foster was one of many coal mining towns that started, and ended, in Monroe County with the combination of coal mine and railroad.
